Cambrian University

Since its founding in 1967, Cambrian College has served as Northern Ontario’s main post-secondary school. As a member of the provincial college system, Cambrian College was first established as a vocational school. University campuses were first established in Sault Ste. Marie, North Bay, and Sudbury.

Cambrian was a bilingual college that offered courses in both French and English up until 1995. The French curriculum was transferred to Collège Boreal the next year. Over 80 programs are available at Cambrian College in three flexible learning formats: full-time, part-time, and flex. University of Cambrian Continuing Education

Hundreds of part-time jobs are available at Cambrian College to help you advance your career, reignite your passion for self-improvement, and reach your academic objectives. To be as flexible as possible and to fit your busy schedule, courses are available online and start at any time of the year.

The continuing education program at Cambrian College is completely online. Lessons don’t have regular days or times throughout the week. Students may access the course from practically any computer anytime it is convenient for them. The course materials are available seven days a week, twenty-four hours a day.

Course modules are accessible to students via an online portal. The lecture notes and materials, reading assignments, student assignments, questions and answers, class discussions, and homework are all included in these modules, just as in a typical classroom.

Remember that each course has a beginning and ending date. There will also be due dates for tasks, exams, and other things. As a consequence, students must log in to the course and obtain their course schedule.

Cambrian College Campuses

Sudbury, Espanola, and Little Current make up the three sites that makeup Cambrian College. A 6,000-square-foot contemporary weight training facility, a functional training room, three international squash courts, saunas, and other amenities are part of the Cambrian College sports complex on the Sudbury campus. Chartwells Cafeteria, Tim Hortons Express, and the Student Life Center are just a few of the places where you may eat and have fun. The university also has a student council that represents the student body and engages students in a variety of events and activities.

Although Cambrian College provides on-campus housing, students also have the choice to live in Sudbury. The college charges a non-refundable application fee of $100 CAD for residence in the autumn, winter, or summer semesters. Applications are evaluated in the order in which they were received.

The school offers two main types of accommodation: townhouse-style living for around 300 students, and dorm-style lodging for about 377 students.

The Laamanen Centre, which holds the resident life office, a laundry room, and rafters, is located between the dorms and townhouses.

 

Bursaries for Cambrian College

Applications for every scholarship and award offered by Cambrian College may be found on myCambrian.

You will have access to award applications via your myCambrian account after you have registered for your program. Awards are included in the section titled “Financing My Education” under the student link.

You must complete a survey or questionnaire before submitting an application for scholarships and bursaries. Once you’ve submitted an application for a scholarship, check your myCambrian account the next day to make sure the system has updated it with any scholarships and bursaries that are still open as well as any extra criteria (such as an essay or volunteer hours). Since new awards are often given out, check your account frequently for any recently added scholarships and bursaries to myCambrian that you could be qualified for.

Nursing at Cambrian College

You might succeed in your career by earning a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Cambrian College (Laurentian University Collaboration)! You will acquire the abilities, know-how, and clinical experiences required to function as a nurse in healthcare facilities such as hospitals, long-term care facilities, and community care settings. The Laurentian University Four-Year Collaborative Nursing Program combines exceptional courses in the humanities, sciences, and social sciences with preparation in theory, simulation, and clinical practice settings. The following course is required for students to pass:

  • Grade12 English
  • Grade12 Chemistry
  • Grade12 Mathematics
  • Grade12 Biology

To be eligible for their OSSD, students must successfully complete at least six grade 12 U/M courses with a minimum cumulative average of 75%. Candidates for the Ontario High School must complete English (U), Mathematics (U), Chemistry (U), Biology (U), as well as any other two grade 12 (U) or (M) courses.

College Scholarships at Cambrian

Cambrian College offers government loans, bursaries, and scholarships. The institution assists a total of 1,000 students annually via its awards program, and it provides international students with scholarships worth more than 50,000 CAD.

Additionally, international students are eligible for general scholarships of $100,000 CAD.

On-campus job applications are accepted by students. The institution has allocated 30,000 CAD to act as student interns for foreign students.

Scholarships are awarded in accordance with the applicant’s eligibility, which is established by the completion of a questionnaire and the submission of documents like an essay, a log of one’s volunteer hours, etc.

Award winners in the different categories include:

  • Over 150,000 CAD in entrance rewards is provided to newly admitted students.
  • In-school incentives – Students get more than 600,000 CAD in incentives based on their study area, academic success, involvement in the community, and financial necessity.

College Admissions at Cambrian

Students are admitted to Cambrian College for the fall semester. Students must submit their applications by February 1st in order to be given equitable consideration. Applications received after this date will only be taken into account if there are open positions, on a first-come, first-served basis.

For admission to the university, you may need to submit a completed application form, copies of your transcripts or diplomas from school, the results of your English language proficiency exam, and other supporting documents. A non-refundable application fee of 95 CAD must be paid by applicants who submit their applications online.

What steps must I take to apply? Here are the actions:

  1. Choose a curriculum that interests you, then research its prerequisites and accessibility.
  2. You should be aware of both the English language prerequisites and any nation-specific requirements if you’re an international student.
  3. Send in your completed applications, together with a non-refundable application fee, your basic personal and academic information, and your applications.
  4. Transcripts, test results for your level of English proficiency, other exam results, and other needed documents must be submitted.
  5. After receiving an official offer of admission, pay your tuition and use your receipt to submit an application for a study visa.
  6. You also require co-op study clearance if any form of fieldwork is part of your program. Therefore, bear this in mind while requesting a visa.

Requirements for English Language Proficiency

In order to make up lost coursework in courses where English is the primary language of teaching at Cambrian College, students must fulfill certain English language requirements. The approved tests are listed below, along with the corresponding results.

  • iBT TOEFL score: 80–84
  • A PBT TOEFL score of 550–570
  • IELTS: 6.0 (with no band less than 5.5) 6.5 (with no band less than 6.0)
  • PTE: 58-61

The Process of Applying for a Visa

Any international student planning to attend school in Canada for six months or more must apply for both a study permit and a visa. The whole procedure typically takes four to eight weeks to complete and may be assisted by the Canadian Embassy in your nation.

You may also apply for your visa through the Student Direct Stream if you are a citizen of one of the following nations: China, India, Morocco, Pakistan, the Philippines, Senegal, or Vietnam (SDS). However, if you meet the requirements and want to apply for a visa via SDS, you must be ready with the necessary paperwork.

  • Copy of Acceptance Letter
  • Proof of payment of first-year tuition fee
  • Proof of Guaranteed Investment Certificate (GIC) for 10,000 CAD
  • Medical Exam
  • English language proficiency test scores

Candidates who do not meet the SDS criteria should be aware that they may still apply via the regular procedure online or at the Visa Application Center.
